What is tops gymnastics?

TOPs Gymnastics, also known as Talent Opportunity Program, is a national gymnastics program designed to identify promising young gymnasts and provide them with extra training and development opportunities. It is run by the USA Gymnastics organization and is open to gymnasts aged 7-10.

The TOPs program aims to identify young athletes with exceptional strength, flexibility, and natural talent for the sport of gymnastics. Gymnasts are evaluated through a series of physical tests and skill assessments, including strength exercises, flexibility tests, and gymnastics skill demonstrations.

Once selected into the TOPs program, gymnasts receive additional training and coaching at the state, regional, and national levels. They have the opportunity to attend training camps, workshops, and competitions to further develop their skills and abilities. Coaches and gymnasts work together to set goals and create individualized training plans to help gymnasts reach their full potential.

TOPs Gymnastics is seen as a crucial step in the athlete development pathway for young gymnasts in the United States. It provides a platform to showcase talent and potential, and many successful elite gymnasts have participated in the program. Participating in TOPs can also open doors to opportunities for further training, scholarships, and potential inclusion in the elite gymnastics program.

Overall, TOPs Gymnastics is an important program that identifies and nurtures young talent in the sport of gymnastics, helping them advance their skills and ultimately pursue their gymnastics goals.
